Data, Decisions, and Deep Neural Nets: EdUHK Hosts SDSA 2026

The Research Cluster on Data Science and Analytics, under the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology (MIT) is committed to advancing data-driven research and practice. Such work has taken on particular importance in the AI era, where data is driving innovation and decision-making across education, society, and industry.
With this in mind, the cluster held the Symposium on Data Science and Analytics (SDSA) 2026 at EdUHK on 13 and 14 May. The event featured keynote addresses, invited parallel sessions, and a specialised workshop, bringing together experts who shared the latest research findings in statistics, machine learning, time series, reliability, educational analytics, generative AI, and intelligent agents.

During the closing ceremony, Dr Alpha Ling Man-ho, Co-Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee, reflected on the symposium’s achievements: “SDSA has successfully provided a forum for sharing pioneering research and building meaningful collaboration.”
The success of SDSA 2026 reflected the collective effort of its speakers, organisers, and participants, strengthening interdisciplinary research connections and laying the groundwork for future work.
